What is involved in fire door testing?

We recommend fire doors in commercial buildings are checked at least once a year. In compliance with the The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, we undertake fire door testing in blocks of flats over 11 metres high every 3 months.

Our fire door testing service involves a thorough inspection of every fire door in the building. The engineers from Amthal will inspect every part of the doors, including the frame, seals, hardware, panels, and the door leaves themselves.

As part of our complete fire protection services, we carry out fire door inspections to ensure that they are still compliant and fit for purpose. All of our engineers have undergone specialist fire door safety training.

Working as your trusted life safety protection partner, we will produce all the documentation you need for ongoing fire door compliance, including an appropriate maintenance schedule for your specific location and a process for the consistent documentation of safety checks. On completing your fire door inspection, we will advise on any maintenance works or improvements needed, and carry them out as required.

Choosing the right fire doors for your premises

Fire doors are given a fire-resistance rating, which forms part of the design and specification process to ensure suitability for your particular building or facility. The level of fire-resistance required will be determined by many factors, including:

  • The number and dimensions of emergency routes
  • The overall dimensions of the premises
  • The unique risks of any given premises (such as the presence of flammable materials)
  • The number of occupants in the building

If required, our expert engineers can identify and advise you on the right fire door rating for your premises.
