Amthal Supports Campaign For Approved Fire and Security Companies To Become Key Workers
Amthal is supporting a call by leading bodies within the security and fire sector, for UKAS accredited approved companies to be designated ‘key workers.’
The campaign, led by regulators including British Security Industry Association (BSIA), Fire and Security Association (FSA), National Security Inspectorate (NSI), and the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) aims to establish employees of all security and fire companies approved by UKAS-accredited specialist certification bodies to be designated as “Key Workers”, to ensure environments not currently designated as “critical” continue to be protected.
In the current lockdown environment, only those companies and their employees providing a service to a business or institution classed as ‘critical,’ such as social care, supermarkets and the food supply chain, hospitals, national infrastructure and utilities are classified as key workers.
Jamie Allam, CEO Amthal Fire & Security, an accredited company says: “With these uncertain times, we are supporting this initiative, as a private fire and security company that is well positioned to provide necessary security to support all business, and indeed residential homes. We believe this is vital to maintain a sense of safety for business owners and employees working remotely, ensuring their building and assets are kept safe and secure.”
Amthal is an SSAIB approved company in fire and security, and highlights the importance of its employees being classed as keyworkers, to enable the following suggested services:
- Approved Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC) security screened operators facilitating police response to intruder and hold-up alarms
- Intruder alarm and hold-up alarm installation and maintenance security screened engineers
- Fire detection and alarm system installer and maintenance engineers
- Life safety fire risk assessors
- Portable fire equipment technicians
- All SIA Licence holders including security screened
- security officers
- key holding response officers
Jamie concludes: “By becoming key workers, our staff will be able to travel without restriction and also have peace of mind that their children can attend school as necessary. We can then commit and play our part to ensuring the safety and security of buildings, critical not only to the fight against COVID-19, but also to enable businesses and homes to protect what’s precious, ensuring they are best placed to open for business as usual, when we are able to do so.”
